Very creative horror game you got here

I like the tense atmosphere you created through the game with the colors you selected and the sounds you picked.

it even looks like a spam submission at a first glance and the appeal of horror is that it sometimes scares you away but curiosity attracts you anyways.

This in of itself is you using an effective technique to make an entertaining horror submission but while all this was great including the screams of terror on some parts.

It just wasn't scary in my point of view because it lacked a sense of danger, a sense of shock and while this may not be needed but sometimes a sense of humor adds entertainment value to a horror movie/game.

The tense atmosphere as i said was great and the simple approach also worked great because the scariest horror movies also happened to be the least polished.

Horror speaks to our most primitive part of our brains and when it is effective it is at it's most scary.

You kept violence, blood and gore to a minimum and this is also effective because you need to sometimes to keep it to a minimum when you want anykind of shock out of your audience when they see it.

Shock helps a little since it plays on the audiences own perversion to keep there attention.

Your game needed a sense of danger mixed with suspense and some shock to be a little more scary.

All you had was a tense atmosphere and mild surprises when you entered the wrong keys.

Pachira responds:

Thank you for your review. I do feel that some parts should be more scary, especially the PCstat and aRav areas. I understand how you feel with regards to the sense of danger, as most of it doesn't feel dangerous.
Thank you for complementing my choice of colour. I feel that dull pictures are more deathy than greyscale pictures.
I really didn't want to use blood and gore in this movie, and I think it came out much better than if there were severed heads and stuff. Just really ugly people is all you need to be scary.
You say there wasn't a sense of shock? I tried to make it shocky using the screaming things. Do you mean it was more surprise than shock?
I think I will expand on this movie and perhaps release a newer version based on what you have told me. Thanks for reviewing!

Good tetris rip off but tainted by emoticons

but ironically without those internet memes and usage of the emoticons this engine would be completely unmemorable here.

Most of the time i would usually discourage people from using commonly used internet emoticons because it's not too original but somehow the combo of internet emoticons and a generic gaming engine makes the mundane feel a whole lot more original here.

You show some signs of creative energy that i never see within works of people who make equally dull and generic games such as this.

I can picture you coming up with a whole new gaming engine all together with whatever you know about action script already.

In closing doing a game as your first submission was a very smart idea because there are little to no graphic whores judging you before your ready to take there insults.

People only care about a game being fun and movies just have a whole different set of standards to them.

I will be looking forward to seeing more of your work in the near future. Best of luck.

Twank you :3

A point and click horror movie neat idea.

This is a pretty decent start for a game within the survival horror genre. The game play was simple and i was able to play it without any kind of instructions.

the only part i got stuck on was the part where i have to enter a code on the alarm system and i would recommend adding a button for me to backtrack away from that alarm system so i can explore the house some more and come back to that alarm system to try another code.

I would recommend adding hints hidden in the game to what the combination to that lock might be.

and as one of the last reviewers said punish people for getting the code wrong.

The tense music was fitting for this game and gave a generally horrifying atmosphere in general.

Make your drawings more polished and more levels in general because i can picture a game of this type being very successful here.

Best of luck.

Thanks. :)
I have taken all of your ideas into consideration.
In my second one, I hope to include all of this, and also better graphics and less bugs.

too much of a learning curve

I liked the way the gaming engine was action scripted but the controls had too much of learning curve since you left no instructions on how to work the controls.

Most platformers have the arrow keys for walking instead of letters because people use them first by instinct.

we can't read your mind over the internet and it took me some messing with the keys to figure out that the W, A, S, D keys were what made the monkey movie around.

It was actually my second instinct to use those keys but because you provide no instructions it is unacceptable to expect everyone to be albe to play at all.

since most people when provided with no instructions on how to play go with there first instincts to play the game.

If they are not able to play without instructions and working with there first instincts has likely failed than instructions are necessary.

Picture yourself as a total stranger than has never touched your game before.

They need to know the same stuff you know or they won't accept it as a game.

sorry for being harsh here but a simple changing the W, A, S, D keys for moving to arrow keys for moving would sync your engine better to most peoples first instincts.

and if you can't keep up with most peoples first instincts than provide instructions at the very least or otherwise it takes forever to get things started as a gamer.

Nihem097 responds:

sorry, but as soon as i posted it, It wouldn't let me change the movie's description to teach you how to play

Brillent prank you got here

while a lot of people will be pissed off that your game isn't working but the whole thing is a joke to get a rise out of you.

You think you are getting an epic game because of the ambitious looking title screen and the preloader to give you the impression that something amazing is coming.

You can't start a new game nor can you load up a saved file because there never was a saved file in the first place.

I'am giving you a high score because it's likely noone else will and they might likely pop a blood vessel over being pranked.

In closing smashing hit troll movie/game 100%

haha omg man i read your review and laughed my ass off xD thanks for the review man.

Interesting game but too big of a boxsize

I like the pong/ space invaders style game play with the spray can it's very different but i have a small thing to bitch about.

The box size was a bit too big to work with here since i i needed to use my scroll wheel on my mouse to see parts of the flash.

I would just divide the box size you used in half within my grounds gold and it will still show everything you intended to show but will make the game more easily playable.

For the future use smaller box sizes because it is a pain in the ass having to scroll down and up on your browser just to play.

CutelilDeadGirl responds:

Yeah. I had no idea it would be like that until I submitted it and tried to play it. Is that just the size it appears on Newgrounds or will it totally squash up my game if I submit it again but with smaller dimensions? Because I made my game 500x600, so it would be kind of a pain to go back to the original file and resize it because I'd have to change everything else too. -sigh- I guess I learned a lesson! D:

I've been following this whole sirtom thing

and while the drawings of the game were terrible, the game play engine was of a typical point and click.

But the main attraction here is not the game play even if that can be a lot better but it's the humor itself.

It was hilarious stuff from beginning to end.

It wouldn't hurt to add more options within the game itself such as more choices in the point and click engine and i can't say a victory screen would be needed since this what actually happened.

Good work.

Ragnarokia responds:

I would have added more choices but I only bothered to spend about 45 minutes making this, also explains the other problems, but thanks anyway :)

For 6k it's pretty decent

You answer questions on ways how you can make it to work on time despite the fact you slept in.

It's actually pretty creative for a text based game but was it really needed to have 4 writers for this?

I can picture this quiz such as this helping a lot of people to make it on time for work.

For a game of this filesize it's above average and great when you compare it to other small filesized submissions within the newgrounds portal.
