I made the orginal movie that you have targeted for ridicule.

You added a lot of your own personality into this remake and because it wasn't entirely a total shot by shot remake.

It fuctions as more of a critique of the orginal a date with piconjo.

excellent parody.

Keeby responds:

OMG i love the original in no way I'm i mocking your work! It was meant as a tribute but ofc I can never do it better than you did <3

I'm very pleased to know that Light House Girls is finally being seen on Newgrounds.

I remember you finished this at a time before Newgrounds actually had any sort of video player at all.

I really love all of the beautiful painting like backgrounds and the various environments to create an entire world.

simple extra touches such as placing the shadows in the correct places according to light conditions adds a certain layer of reality to the animation.

Please feel free to upload your future work anywhere online at all.

I would love see it.

I assume you have made improvements since Light House Girl because this movie is really old.

Glad you finally uploaded it to newgrounds and other people get to enjoy it.

I look forward to seeing your other stuff.

rtil responds:

That is true, there was no video player on Newgrounds at the time, so even if i wanted to submit it I couldn't have. At least when it was finished - i'm not sure when they added it.

This reminds me of the kinda things that they would show to small children in a science class except it only needed a small bit more spit and polish.

The cartoon itself was well researched and scientifically arcute and used simple vocabulary to get it's point across clearly.

Your word selection doesn't really matter because clarity is the name of the game.

As for spit and polish.

I would have drawn all text seen in the animation instead of typing it because than you can draw the fonts.

The drawings were fine but you could try doing more unique facial expressions and body language in your characters to enhance comedic effect.

Take the time to observe people around you and pay special attention to there own facial cues and body language.

You can do a cartoony verison of those facial cues and body language that people actually do.

play around with the pupils in the eyes because you can read human/animal emotion on just the eyes alone.

You got the right idea on playing around with the facial muscles in the eyes themselves.

Cartoony expressions for the most part are an exaggerated version of the same kinda facial expressions that real people do but with less limitations.

You can also work on your line of action.

When that guy reaches for a piece of chalk than all parts of his body can move in subtle way.

if he kicks forward than his body leans back to maintain balance and when he reaches for a piece of chalk than he either leans forward or back.

Try reaching for pencil on the ground and observe your own body either leaning forward with your arm.

or leaning back away for your arm.

Other than these small nitpicks.

It was a well presented flash movie and I will look into your other movies.

TehAnimatorsWaffle responds:

wow thanks! :D your criticizem was well explained which will help me improve in the future, but there are some things i would like to adress.
1.) i had 2 days to do this project, and i was very rushed to get it done in time.
2.) i was originally going to have a lot more movement with the arms/face, but when i started running out of time, i had to simplify it a lot.
3.) my penminship sucks. bad. and the fact i had to do this all on a trackpad, that didint help with it.
4.) i do, as you said, study people/hands/faces before i draw them, buuttt i didnt have much time to, like i keep saying.

but overall thank you a lot for the criticizem (still spellin it wrong! :D) and im glad you took the time to type it :D

The plight of the emos

the life of an emo is hard with all the pretending to be depressed and wearing skinny jeans all the time and what not.

KillYourselfSlowly responds:

True dat

Visually it looks interesting to say the least

I'm actually really disappointed because there was so much potential in this very flash to do so much more.

Your usage of color theory and the way the animation was kept surreal reminded me of the work of Catoblepas but drawn in a more crude child like fashion in fact i would say this style is visually awesome.

Beyond that there was really nothing much more compelling than the graphics itself because it was a simple loop of a DJ scratching the shit out of records.

I was expecting that maybe if i pressed some kind of button on the DJ that something else would happen and i ended up right clicking and playing and went right back to the preloader.

It really pains me to give you a low score because i see so much potential in you and so much potential in these daveytoons.

I say keep em going and your abilities will excel beyond belief because making spam is like training in the gym.

The more you do it than the more muscle you build up.

David responds:

Ah, my dear old friend, thank you for these kind words. Maybe I will have the drive to do something cool in the future with a similar concept. I will work towards better things, but of course there will be spam.

Hilarious

One of the funniest clock day movies i seen so far today.

DarkMatter responds:

You're too kind my dear PowerRangerYELLOW, thank you for the 10!

Best dailytoon this season so far

it's back to basics instead of a pathetic attempt to catch past glory it is two brand new cartoons from adam ant and mightybear.

Out of the two people in the battle i would have to go with adamant because it was a creative way to say the animator had writers block.

The second one wasn't as good since it looked to be a lot of rambling about nothing mixed in with photoshop pictures of outer space being tweened.

In closing it was a very funny dailytoon and i would like to see a lot more diversity in the dailytoons like what should have been happening from the very start.

This is some really great animation

I love seeing traditional animation and it had a really neat presentation to it all together such as the menu and preloader.

I liked the video quality itself since it didn't have that overly pixelated look commonly associated with animations posted to the internet.

The stop motion animation was great but personally i found the drawn animation to be more entertaining.

with claymation you have to worry about your cinematography such as choice of angles, lighting, shadows but like anything else it has to look natural such as the light having direction.

I commonly see some animators fall into the trap of adding lots of shadows to there cartoons for no reason other than to make it look more polished but they make the mistake of now allowing the lighting change as the characters move and there environment changes.

The one clay animation had some rather neat cinematography and was basically above home movie level in terms of spit and polish but i found the first stop motion animation in the collection to be more entertaining.

it didn't look as polished nor was it as good by technical standards but i felt it was more to the point than the clay animated movie.

what it all boils down to is that they were both good but i personally found one more entertaining than the other.

Now onto your drawn animations.

I'm not much of fan of rotoscope animation but if i was to compare it to the other forms of rotoscope i have seen before it is generally well animated.

rotoscope is extreamly difficult to pull off well because it takes more than mere tracing to have it look any good.

You even mixed a bit of your own personal touch to the rotoscope hence making it look less fake and eerie.

The ball bounce was nothing special to watch but you have effectively used squash and stretch.

the proportions in your animations were kept consistent even while angles changed and this is some of what of a mistake since proportions would change with a new angle.

abstract animation used color effectively and had a much more spontaneous feel to it than the other more steadily animated shorts.

I can assume you animated abstract animation in a more straight ahead fashion rather than planed ahead of time.

In fact abstract is the best of all your shorts in the entire collection.

If it could at all be possible to make another traditionally animated submission but with better optimization than you can easily make a much longer cartoon for this very website.

I look forward to seeing more from you and i hope this review is constructive enough to help you in the future.

CoolDrMoney responds:

honestly this is probably the most constructive review Ive ever recieved. Thanks PRY I will try my best

It'll be ogay was better

this parody was nowhere nearly as good as the other parody posted by the kitty krew.

It'll be ogay in the end was a better movie because while rushed it looked more like the original movie that was being mocked.

It had actual jokes and actually attacked it's target for parody.

and it really shouldn't have been a problem to make something presentable because the crude drawings on it'll be okay in the end should be easy to copy even for the laziest of people.

There basically fat stick figures.

The usage of tweens was very unfitting since frame by frame could have been used and shat out fast as well.

The authors comments actually put the whole movie into context but it was just a lame sex joke that didn't even bother spoofing it'll be okay in the end.

I really feel bad about this review because this could have been another great parody but the results only qualified as a bad joke that had no thought put into it.

Try again

-PowerRangerYELLOW

SAK responds:

You are 100% right.

Very cool

The cartoon had a rather interesting look to it like how the characters had the appearances of constant movement even when standing still.

the squiggling line work while usually seen as a flaw by the typical audience member is refreshing to see when compared to cartoons that look 100% clean.

In some weird way it looks more polished because for the most part tweens were not used to animate limbs but only when it is necessary and actually effective.

It didn't exactly sync up to the music 100% but the music seemed to act as background noise for the cartoon itself.

a little more rhythm to the way it was animated would have made an already strong piece of animation even stronger even just selecting a different song would have helped.

but for the most part the song sank up flawlessly in some places.

please make more.

Fautzo responds:

lmao all this for a dinky little spam flash?

for once someone who actually knows how to animate wrote something.
